Ralph Sydenstricker founded Sydenstricker’s of Missouri as an International Harvester dealership January 1944 in Paris, Missouri. In September of 1952, Ralph traded a tractor for his first Black Angus cow and Sydenstricker Angus Farms was in its beginning. He continued to operate the International Harvester dealership until 1960 when he sold to J.I. Case Company and focused on continuing to grow the Angus cattle business. In 1965, Ralph decided to go back into the implement business and purchased the International Harvester dealership in Macon, Missouri and his son, Eddie, became the manager. A year later, Ralph had the opportunity to become the John Deere dealer in Mexico, Missouri. With an International Harvester dealership in Macon and a John Deere dealership and Angus business in Mexico, Ralph partnered with Galen “Gabe” Gabriel, the International Harvester territory manager in August of 1969. At this time, Eddie moved back to Mexico to assist with the John Deere dealership and Angus business and “Gabe” managed the Macon location. Many years passed and relationships with family members, customers and the communities grew. In 1991, Greg Gabriel, “Gabe’s” son, joined the dealership following graduation from the University of Missouri-Columbia.

In April of 1994, “Gabe” expanded to Kirksville, Missouri with the opening of the John Deere dealership and Greg was sent to manage the location. Eddie expanded with a John Deere dealership in Rocheport, Missouri in June of 1994. The partnership later purchased the John Deere dealership in Macon April 1, 2000. Sydenstricker’s continued to expand in the years to come with the purchase of the Chillicothe location in March 2003, Palmyra in August 2004, Moscow Mills in September 2007, Curryville in April 2008, Tipton in September 2008, Hermann in January 2011, and Dutzow in February 2016.
